The Vivekananda Vedanta Society of British Columbia is affiliated to the Ramakrishna Order founded by Swami Vivekananda, which has its headquarters in Belur Math, India.
This Society is formed for purely religious and charitable purposes, which are as follows: (a) To promote devotion to God and the recognition of truth in all great religions of the world. (b) To promote the study, the practice and the teaching of Vedanta Philosophy and religion in general, as expounded by Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada Devi, Swami Vivekananda and other great spiritual leaders. (c) To promote harmony between the different religious, philosophical, and spiritual thoughts of the world.
This is a spiritual community of earnest seekers who come from diverse religious, cultural and racial backgrounds to pray and meditate, study and discuss, and work together for the common good. The Society offers talks, meditation meetings, and devotional singing sessions in the Vedanta tradition inspired by Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda.
Currently, there is a talk by Swami Vimohananda on spiritual topics on Saturday mornings, and the Sunday talks are held in the afternoons from March through October.

After Hanuman returned with the message of peace from Lord Rama and the preparations for war became evident, the Vanara (monkey) army set out towards Lanka. Before the battle began, Lord Rama once again tried to persuade Ravana to choose peace and sent Angada as his messenger.
